Boreal Controls Inc. (BCI) has over 90 years of combined multi-disciplinary engineering experience amongst our staff. Our office is located in Juneau, but we travel all over Alaska for our projects, including to remote sites. The clients we serve range from federal, state, tribal and local governments, as well as mining companies, seafood processors, breweries, and more.

BCI is licensed in the State of Alaska both as an engineering firm and a general contractor and is also a UL Listed control panel manufacturer. Much of our work has been in the water and wastewater industry. Our typical role in water and wastewater projects spans all phases of the project, including conceptual engineering, detailed design, preparation of bid documents, contract administration, control panel fabrication, PLC, HMI & SCADA programming, inspections, commissioning, testing, training, and long-term support and maintenance, including remote troubleshooting.

BCI is a recognized system integrator with years of experience involving many manufacturers’ automation equipment and developers’ software packages. Our experience includes but is not limited to: Wonderware/AVEVA SCADA solutions, Rockwell FactoryTalk/RSView, Inductive Automation Ignition, Kepware OPC servers, Siemens WinCC and TIA Portal, GE iFix, Siemens PLCs, Allen-Bradley PLCs and VFDs and other control equipment from most manufacturers present in the industrial automation market. We maintain an extensive inventory of parts and supplies and are able to quickly manufacture a wide array of control systems. We have also developed many computer application programs that are utilized in the control and monitoring of water and wastewater systems, including multi-station SCADA systems.

We often take part in engineering for new treatment plants or added new reservoirs, PRVs or water or sewer pump stations. But most projects in Alaska involve repairs and upgrades to existing, aging infrastructure. Many of our clients become long-term clients for whom we provide life cycle support and maintenance as we continue to upgrade their SCADA system and add additional sites as budgets allow.
