Founder and President of Boreal Controls, Inc. Over 22 years of electrical engineering experience throughout Alaska in control systems, system integration, and general electrical engineering.  Engineering work includes conceptual engineering, detailed design engineering, preparation of plans and specifications for bid documents, cost estimates, and contract administration.  System integration work includes PLC programming, SCADA system programming, field start-up services, design and configuration of VFD and communication systems.  Extensive engineering experience in water and wastewater projects. Project Manager and lead engineer for the SCADA and control systems for Cordova’s Water and Wastewater System. Principal Engineer and Project Manager for the Sitka water and wastewater SCADA systems. Engineering work includes cost estimates, detailed design work, and preparation of plans and specifications for bid documents. System integration work includes PLC programming, SCADA application development, field commissioning services, set up of VFDs, and configuration of communication networks. Senior electrical engineer with Boreal Controls, Inc.  Twenty-seven years of experience in control systems and electrical engineering projects throughout Alaska. Work focuses on control panel design, control systems design, and system integration in water, wastewater, and other applications. Engineering work includes comprehensive design work, and preparation of plans and specifications for bid documents. System integration work includes PLC/PAC programming, SCADA application development, field commissioning services, set up of VFDs, and configuration of communication networks. Past experience includes preparation of power utility construction work plans including system fault current, voltage drop calculations, utility power system mapping, lighting, fire alarm, and architectural power systems design. Work experience includes: four years of contract administration and project management, US Navy Civil Engineer Corps and eight years civil engineering consulting practice. Additionally Sam spent 20 years in mining engineering, including project infrastructure at remote sites. He has been at BCI for 16 years, working in control system and panel design. Over six years of electrical engineering experience in Southeast Alaska and the North Slope. Engineering work includes answering contractor RFI’s, load calculations, conductor and conduit sizing, power and control design work, and preparation of plans and specifications. Provided construction and maintenance quality assurance during the construction and operation phases of the Point Thomson airstrip. System integration work includes power and control design for sewer lift stations and water pump stations, PAC/PLC programming, SCADA application development, set up of VFDs, and control panel manufacturing. As-built the existing power and control circuits for the Cordova Eyak WTP and designed the new power system which includes an automatic transfer switch (ATS), 480V power panel, and pump VFD power filtering panels. Assisted in transferring the Sitka SCADA system from Rockwell RSView32 to Rockwell FactoryTalk. B.S. Electrical and Computer Engineering, Oregon State University, 2011.
